Only the ocean
One of the most beautiful trips I’ve ever taken was to a very distant place. There was nothing there—except the sea. Sea everywhere.
They were intense, full, and complicated days, because the weather wasn’t kind, and most of the time, there were storms.
Storms in the ocean are something that truly help you understand the Romantic concept of the “sublime”: the attraction to something vast and untamable. If you’re relatively safe.
Something that frightens you and calls to you at the same time. I didn’t take many photos during that trip—actually, I rarely do, unless it’s of people.
But the images and sensations tied to making it through those storms, the broken anchor, the sleepless nights, and the days filled with water all around me—those are vivid in my mind.
I captured a bit less of the calm during those rare moments of light. And before they slip away entirely, I’ve placed a few of them in here.
